Xiaomi is always popping up when you think of the best budget phone in 2019 with the unbeatable price in the smartphone markets.
In 2019, Redmi is divided from Xiaomi and became an individual brand instead of a series from Xiaomi’s product line. Similar to Hua-Wei and Honor, they are both competing but supporting each other and sharing the same resources.
Although the price is so affordable to everyone, Xiaomi doesn’t make it shoddy or badly built. They all come with good qualities but with some compromises on each phone.
Let’s talk about Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 today, blablabla…. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Design & Display
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7’s front is so-called infinity U design in Samsung, but Xiaomi calls it a “Dot Drop” screen. It gives a full-screen experience for 2019 and expressing the best solution so far to house the front camera.
With the thick chin and the bezel on the top, it looks quite the same the all mid-ranger phones launched in 2018. Xiaomi promises Redmi phones also get the high-standard quality and adds 6-month warranty on top of the 12-month warranty which is 18-month warranty in total.
The front and the back is made by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and the side is made by plastic materials. So, it’s sizeable and not so easy to drop your Redmi Note 7 on the ground.
Even you drop it on the ground, the Corning Gorilla Glass is preventing it from getting any damages.
Let’s watch a video that famous Youtuber – Jerryrigeverything to test Redmi Note 7:
There are three colors to choose for your favorite Redmi Note 7: space black, Neptune Blue, and Nebula Pink.
The glass back of Redmi Note 7 shines with different colors when you flip it around in different angles.
I love this gradient design on the back since 2018, so Chinese Android smartphone manufacturers resonated this idea and implemented the design in their phones.
There is also a traditional fingerprint scanner on the back, I love old-fashioned fingerprint scanner to unlock my phone since there is no one share the same fingerprint with me so far in the world.
And, to be honest, the unlocking process is smooth on Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
(Redmi Note 7 has three colors: space black, Neptune Blue, and Nebula Pink.)
IPS LCD screen has some sort of natural weakness, such as light bleed around the “Dot Drop” area which houses the front camera or on the top bezel.
It’s not so obvious on Redmi Note 7, you will only notice this light bleed when the background color of the content you are reading is white or lighter colors.
Camera
48.0 MP rear camera
The rear camera has 48.0 MP which is really amazing but it’s weird that the default setting is still using 12.0 MP. You need to adjust the setting and turn 48.0 MP to sense this extraordinary camera.
The camera gets the feature called “4-in-1 Super Pixel” means the camera’s sensor hardware can combine 4 pixels into a single 1.6μm large pixel. The best part is even if you use higher ISO for a night shot, it will reduce noises and remain so sharp!
It helps you capture so many details in one photo which also allows you to zoom in as far as you like and crop out in any way you want but still with so clear content.
Redmi Note 7 mentions that you could use it to crop yourself in a group photo and still see clearly the smile on your face, what wonderful that is… 🙂 🙂 🙂

Selfie Camera
It gets a 13.0 MP front camera with AI portrait mode, AI Beauty, background blurring, and face recognition.
I couls see some copycat stereotypes on Xiaomi which people used to say it’s the faithful Apple’s clone. For example, iPhone Xs & Xs MAX‘s powerful portrait mode, so Redmi should get one too.
Background blurring called “Live Focus” on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 & S9 & S10, so Xiaomi wants some of that too.
I kinda hope that Xiaomi could launch something more powerful on their own instead of copying other competitors. The great news is they are on the right track to cooperate with Meitu to launch a super-powerful selfie camera phone.
Meitu is a giant app company from China which empowers users to use its own Meitu phone to adjust the face or the body portion in real-time before you take the photo.
My friends once showed me this Meitu Phone’s feature, and I was totally WOWed. I became a stranger on the photo, and could not even recognize myself…
While it gets super powerful selfie phone, it doesn’t help much for Meitu company to get more users. They decided to shut down the smartphone product line in Mar 2019 and chose to work with Xiaomi for later 30-year business cooperations.
Let’s wait and see the Xiaomi smartphones with Meitu app! Can’t wait to see me in the viewfinder.
Battery
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 = Long battery life. It gets a 4,000 mAh battery, and it surely gives you a whole-day experience without being tied down to wait for the charging process is done.
Another related battery feature is 18w fast charging. Even when you need to sit down and charge your phone, it’s faster than you imagine. You simply connect the phone with Type-C charger and it will work for you.
The downside part of Redmi Note 7‘s battery is it doesn’t support Qi wireless charging, but consider the price I think you won’t care that much, right?
What if Xiaomi or Redmi phones all equipped with a larger battery like Asus Zenfone 6?

Xiaomi AIoT
Xiaomi as a budget phone manufacturers for many years, they also developed and created smart home appliances that could make our lives much easier.
And they all connect with your phone, that’s the center of all this. It feels so like high tech that our home turns to a scene in movies, but it comes in a way faster than we ever imagine.
Mi Home Security Camera 360º – All-round protection in full high-definition video
Mi LEDSmart Bulb – Paint your home with color

Mi Window and Door Senser – Smarter security keeps your home safe
All the other competitors are doing the same as Xiaomi, they know that smartphone is something they cannot get rid of now since it’s the stepping-stone for the next generations.
Downsides
Top#01 48.0 MP not default
You happily use the Redmi Note 7 and take so many photos, after a while you found out the 48.0 MP is not by default, you will be upset. This is the reason I rank as top#01 downside.
Xiaomi hyped all of its 48.0 MP at the launch event, but the default setting is still 12.0 MP which is not so good.
I checked online and get the reason for this. If you take a photo with 48.0 MP, each photo will require 4-5 seconds to save to your album. Each photo counts 20 MB, 50 photos will be 1 GB(What!)
Top#02 10W adapter
Although Redmi Note 7 could support 18w fast charging, in its box, Xiaomi only provides a 10w adapter. I get many questions? (Why???)
It’s the same that Apple removed the 3.5mm headphone jack but didn’t provide the lightning to 3.5mm connector. Come on Xiaomi/Redmi, you don’t have to copy this, right?
Top#03 NO NFC
Yeah, I know I CANNOT ask more for a budget phone like Redmi Note 7. But, if you are using a lot of NFC to pay anything you buy every day. I think you should go for other phones and skip this one.

Conclusion
If we leave all the downsides that I just conclude above, Xiaomi Redmi is still the best budget phone in 2019!
It gets a strong 48.0 MP for any kinds of photography. It gets a 4,000 mAh battery for you to keep it all-day running.
It’s made by Corning Gorilla 5 glass to avoid little scratch or light drop. All these are amazing to pick one and take home now.
