Compared to Apple Watch Series 3, Apple Watch Series 4 gets a bigger screen with 30% more display. From the side, the body looks wider and thicker. From the front, the corner looks rounder and the frame gets more seamless.

The speaker is re-designed and arranged at the opposite side of microphone, Apple mentioned the sound is 50% louder than the previous Apple Watch Series.
It helps people to have a nice and proper phone call by Apple Watch Series 4 with a clear sound and without much more echoes.
Apple re-engineered digital crown for Apple Watch Series 4. Digital Crown gets 30% smaller than the previous generation and it also includes 21% more components inside.(Amazing!)
It gives back haptic feedback now when you scroll down or up the digital crown to navigate, and haptic feedback makes me feel like it’s just like a mechanic watch, more premium!
Apple Watch Series 4 is equipped with many sensors which make it super powerful to tell you all the info you might need.
It’s depending on S4 Chip & the 4th generation of CPU inside and boost the performance up to 2x faster across the entire system.
There are two sensors in Apple Watch Series 4: Optical Heart Sensor and Electrical Heart Sensor.
You could record your heart rate with a simple press on the digital crown, then the electrode in the Digital Crown and electrodes on the back crystal will read your heart together.
After that, you can use the ECG app to generate an ECG and share it with your doctor for consulting advice.
It feels like something only happens in tech movie around 2050, but now the advanced technology by Apple is going to take us to the future.
This heart reading is great only if the accuracy is high enough to provide the correct data, but Apple Watch owners may not use this feature in some countries due to the law. It’s a great pity!
Besides the heart rate reading by both optical heart sensor and electrical heart sensor, Apple Watch Series 4 will also detect when you fall.
When You Fall
With the accelerometer and gyroscope, Apple knows the time when you drop or fall on the ground. It will pop up an SOS emergency call to take you to the right place.
If you are fine, you could simply pass this call. But if there is no feedback after 60 seconds, the emergency call will be automatically executed to the contact in your emergency list.
People nowadays get so many to worry about, that’s the reason why meditation is getting so much popular in recent years.
Apple Watch Series 4 could let you set “Breathe” app in the infograph watch face, simply choose one corner to launch “Breathe”.
There are three types of meditation modes in Breathe app, you could choose the one most suits your mood. It will guide you to take a series of stable and long breath to become more focus on your current life!
It does a great job to help me to calm down, to relax, to reduce the stress(not overthink) no matter from your job, your relationship with someone, your anxiety.
People tend to ignore the mental health, but we know mental health is as important as your physical health.
I am a bit surprised that Apple decided to set Breathe as a default app since 2016, and it is really something that I cannot forget to praise Apple.

Apple Watch Series 4 is your truly workout partner and never being late or with many excuses, I know many of us could relate.
Apple Watch Series 4 knows the way you work out and show all the metric you might need to know on Workout app.
The best part of Apple Watch Workout app is you could pair the compatible gym equipment and keep the data in your workout app.
Apple Watch Series 4will sense whether you are working out or not to record the pace or heart rate, once you get distracted with the cooler body temperature, it will also remind you to end the workout.
For jogging, it will let you set up a target pace first. Simply tap the screen when you jog, it will let you know you are behind or ahead of the target pace.
For swimming, Apple Watch Series 4 is IP68 rating and water-resistant to 50 meters. It’s a great swimming partner too.
Remember that every time you get a watch that mentioned it’s water-resistant, it got broken due to water after a few times swimming or surfing?
Apple Watch Series 4 is also compatible with other apps, such as surfing app “Dawn Patrol”, “Swing” for tennis, “Nike Run Club” for jogging.
I personally prefer the Nike Run Club since I only know how to run.
Activity & Connect
The activity app keeps your daily movement as three rings: Move, Exercise, and Stand. You could close three rings each day when you reach your goals.
- Move: move ring tracks the calories you burn through all the movements you make all day long. For example, play chasing with kids, gardening, biking to work, walk your dog, dancing in a concert, etc…
- Exercise: shows total minutes you did for your exercise or just moving fast, such as running, swimming, or high-intensive training, etc…
- Stand: it will remind you to stand up and move your butts since sitting all day is bad for health. You could stand up for at least one minute during 12 different hours through a day. For example, get yourself a cup of water in the office, visit a coworker and discuss the project, or simply stretch, etc…
Apple Watch Series 4 with cellular makes it easy to stay in touch with people you are close with or get you to the apps you care about most.
With cellular service, you do not need your phone no matter when you are jogging, working out in the gym, or biking to work. What you need is to easily raise your wrist.
You could also use maps, Apple Music, Apple pay on your Apple Watch Series 4 with cellular.
My FAVORITE part is you could tell Siri to do some errands for you which make your Apple Watch Series 4 sometimes more convenient than your iPhone.
You don’t even have to say “Hi Siri!“, just raise your wrist and speak then Siri will appear and show its magic.
I like to say my Apple Watch Series 4 is my lamp from Aladdin. Hahaha…
Top#01 The Price
Compared the price of Apple Watch Series 3, the price goes up to USD$399(GPS only version). People might find out except the ECG feature, the rest updates shouldn’t cost up that much.
If you happen to live in countries that ECG is not applicable to the local law, it will be a not-very-good bargain for you.
Top#02 Battery Life
Apple gets the most complaints about its battery life. Apple Watch Series 4needs you to charge it for a whole night, then it will last 18 hours.
Compared to its competitors, this is really sad news since the smartwatches from other brands could last for ONE week after one single charge!
Top#03 44mm Is Still Too Small
For some people get used to a big round sport watch, they think the display is still too small to cover all the information they need.
Especially for senior generations, they could not even see clear with naked eyes, so the size of Apple Watch Series 4 could help better.
I love the design, the ECG, the workout app to record my movement and calories, and the connection with other apps. They all quite work well across the system.
Without ECG, I still love my Apple Watch Series 4 since it helps me much stuff with ease. It’s still the best smartwatch in the industry if you don’t care much about the charging speed.
