AirPods 2 Review – The Best Wireless Headphone

Apple’s AirPods 2 is the most popular earphone and many people recognize it’s The Best Wireless Headphone in recent years.

I think the simple design and the convenience are something make people buy it and use Airpods 2 every day.

Even if you don’t have iPhones, you could still connect AirPods to Android smartphones and it’s still fast-connecting. No Big Problem here.

The 2nd generation has three major updates compared to the previous one, such as wireless charging, less latency, and fast connect!

Let’s follow Blablaphones for a closer look. 🙂 🙂 🙂

AirPods 2

(The simple and stylish AirPods 2)

Wireless Charging

AirPods 2 gets wireless charging which I think it’s the biggest difference and something makes people new to earbuds wanna buy it.

The wireless charging allows you to charge your AirPods 2 with ease. You could simply put on some cheap wireless power pads and it would work well.

Although Apple cancels the plan to launch its AirPower Pad earlier this year, we could see AirPower Pad drawings from the outside of AirPods.

It’s funny that Apple doesn’t remove them from the packaging design.

LED light shows whether your AirPods is fully charged or not.

(LED indicator moves to the outside then you could easily know whether your AirPods 2 finishes charging or not.)

I found those cheap replacements of wireless power on the internet, and they will work quite well with your AirPods 2.

If you hold the first generation of AirPods, you could still purchase the wireless charging case. But, the price is USD$79 which I think it’s too pricey.

I prefer to use the lightning connector to charge my Airpods since I cannot accept the price of a wireless charging case from Apple.

The average charging for Airpods 2 for your reference:

  • single charge: Up to 5 hours listening time, up to 3 hours talk time
  • 15 minutes in the case equals up to 3 hours listening time, or up to 2 hours talk time.
  • wireless charging case after one single charge could offer a 24-hour charging service.

Fast Connect & Less Latency

The original Airpods gets W1 Chip inside while AirPods 2 gets an H1 headphone chip. The H from H1 stands for Headphone I guess.

With H1 chip, AirPods makes the connecting process faster than ever even if you are using an Android smartphone to pair.

Apple says that H1 Headphone Chip improves up to 2x faster when switching between active devices, and a 1.5x faster connection time for phone calls.

For other Apple products such as your Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac, AirPods are ready to connect them in a short time.

Connect AirPods 2 to all your Apple devices become so easy!

(Connecting AirPods 2 to all your Apple devices becomes super easy!)

The set-up process is also as simple as eating snacks, you only need to tap once for the set-up then it will work like MAGIC.

I used to buy many small widgets for entertainments in the past, but I got exhausted every time after I read the long manual to connect them to my laptop or phones.

This time with AirPods, it’s really fast-connecting and I never feel so EASY this way!

Within all the new enhancements that H1 Headphone Chip brings to AirPods 2, I love it could lower 30% latency.

It’s something very important when you are using Airpods 2 to pair for all kinds of games or simply watching a Youtube video on your smart devices. Right?

Hey Siri

In AirPods 2, you could say “Hey Siri” as you do on your iPhones or Apple watch. I like this idea that Apple is trying to simplify the process of controlling all your smart devices with Siri.

However, I didn’t use Siri that much because it will lower down the battery life, so I tend to turn off “Hey Siri” on all my Apple devices.

If I turn on “Hey Siri”, I might need to check with Siri quite often for how much left of the battery on AirPods 2.

Top#01 The Price

Besides the battery life on all Apple’s products, the price is always something that people criticize a lot. For AirPods 2, the wireless charging case costs USD$79 which is too pricey for me.

Top#02 No Other Colors to Choose

iPhone 5C and iPhone XR offer at least 5 colors for customers to suit their taste, but AirPods 2 only gets one color which is white.

Not even space gray, gold, or silver color to choose, it’s really a great downside for me since I know the white gets dirty easily.

Top#03 No Waterproof

It’s always easy to drop your AirPods somewhere and you might not be able to find them back due to its size. Let’s imagine what if you drop them in your cup of coffee or tea at breakfast?

Top#04 No Improvements on Sound Quality

The time I saw Apple launched AirPods 2, I did feel like they are going to improve the noise issue and upgrade the sound quality. But, they didn’t.

Noise cancellation and sound quality are the very basic elements when we come to headphones no matter it’s wireless or not.

But rumors have it that Apple is going to improve the both by the end of 2019, let’s wait and see!

>>>Check the Lowest Price Here<<<

If you got the first generation, I suggested you not to change for the 2nd generation since there are not many HUGE updates for AirPods 2 which is The Best Wireless Headphone in recent year.

The major difference is only the wireless charging function is added in this generation. For the quality of sounds, it’s the same no changes or any improvements.

There is also a new option for your AirPods 2. Apple provided the engraving service for the very first time for your purchase with AirPods 2 + Wireless Charging case on their online store.

I guess this is to avoid that you might mess up the cases with your family or friends since it’s getting so popular now. If you could get an engraved case that might help you avoid this situation.

  1. Thanks for this informative review, overall I’ll say I am a huge fan of Apple products and I’ve been looking for a well built truly wireless headphones that integrate seamlessly within Apple’s ecosystem when I came across this website.

AirPods 2 is hard to beat and going to be the best decision I’ll be taking when it comes to headphones.

    • Hi Seun,

Yes, Airpods is the best headphone you could find in the market in 2019 and it works very well with all Apple’s products.

I think you will also like my review of Apple Watch Series 4, enjoy it!

  2. Thank you for this post. My son has been bugging me to get him the AirPods 2, and I have been searching to find information to see if it’s even worth it because he already has the first generation AirPods.

I didn’t know enough about these products, but now I do thanks to this article. Now I can go back to my son and explain to him that there is no need to upgrade because there aren’t many differences or upgrades.

    Thanks again!

    • Hi Chris,

Thanks for stopping by and leave your comment here, and I am glad you like my post. Yeah, I believe that if you have the first generation of Airpod, there would be no need to upgrade this time.

Wait for the next upgrade which is AirPods 3!

      🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Amazing…this is a really great improvement in the digital world which must be very well commended…

These airpods are really beautiful and simple to handle. Unlike the others that are heavy and large. Its simplicity and classic look gives it a chance in my heart.

I must commend that this is a great post well structured for better and easy understanding. I wish to see more interesting reviews like this.

    • Hi Willy,

Love to see you back, your coming back is something motivates me to review more products, thanks! I LOVE the design of AirPods 2 since it’s so stylish and effortless to match with any outfits.

  4. Hi Matt,

Thank for the clear and detailed information for AirPods 2. I will heed your advice not to upgrade. Do you have any idea when will AirPods 3 be launching?

    Warmest Regards

    Marc Ho

    • Hi Marc,

Thanks for the feedback, and I assume AirPods 3 is most likely to be launched by the end of 2019. I hope Apple this time could make the sound performance a lot better than the previous generations.

For now, you’re welcome to see the latest price here for AirPods 2.

      🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. Wow, another great resource. I was looking for a wireless headphone and I got your review. Thank you so much to ket us know about this new Airpods 2 wireless headphone.

Actually, last month I got fined while I was driving and talking with the phone at the same time.

So after that was looking a wireless headphone.

What I like most about this Airpods 2 is, I can use it with Android. That’s amazing.

Many times I saw this Apple headphone but couldn’t decide to buy, because I didn’t know we can use Apple product with another android device, that’s cool. Although the price is a bit high I will manage. Because I need it.Thanks again.

    • Hi Nazmun,

Love to see you coming back for the feedback, I hope you enjoy it and find them useful. I start to gain more curiosity when technology develops, and finally, I landed here and keep posting my reviews for things I like.

Yes, you are correct! AirPods is Android-compatible, and the experience is not bad from other reviewers. For more review and questions, please click here for details!

  6. Looking for new earbuds because the recent Apple headphones I got (free with a device) seem to be awful on the bass and sub-bass end of things – they have a very tiny sound due to the lack of low end.

How do the AirPods 2 hold up on the bass end – do they cut a lot of it out or are they more natural-sounding overall?

    • Unfortunately, the bass isn’t that ideal on Apple AirPods 2, but the overall sound is nice enough for normal listening. If you are crazy about the bass, AirPods might not be the right choice for you. 🙂

  7. I’m really surprised to see that Apple didn’t make any improvement in the sound quality of Air pod 2, thank goodness I’m seeing this now, I was just about place order for one, I’ll rather stick to my first generation, lol. Air pods are known for convenience and comfort, easy mobility and so on. I’ll get the case as soon as possible. Thanks for the update.

    • Yeah, me too! So I told all my friends who have the first generation of AirPods wait for the 3rd generation or later version since Apple might need to provide something for the sound quality then I might be convinced…

  8. Thank you for this Apple AirPods 2 review. I have been an Apple fan since the very first iPhone. I remember when the wired ear buds came out. I never liked them and not because they were wired, though that was a drawback in comparison to today’s standards. I didn’t like how they felt in my ears and the lack of noise cancellation.

Ever since then I have always had a standoff feeling for wireless headphones that were in the small ear bud style. Sometimes I can be slow to embrace new technology, but the time has come for me to get some AirPods. You mention that Apple is working on improving sound and noise cancellation by the end of 2019. Is this confirmed? If it is, I’ll wait to purchase until then.

    • Hi Robert, you are correct, AirPods doesn’t have noise cancellation feature, so it might be a problem for some people. Till now, we are still waiting for the 3rd generation, and it could highly possible the early 2020. Let’s wait for a long while when Apple is ready. 🙂
